The Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act of 1966 was signed to give the legal right to operate three commercial casinos in Detroit. Before that – in 1966 – commercial Michigan casino operators were given the green light. The state lottery was launched next after the signing of the McCauley-Traxler-Law-Bowman-McNeely Lottery Act in 1972.
The very first product to hit the legal gambling industry in the state was pari-mutuel horse racing the year 1933.
